AmCham Women in Business reception at American Magic base with
Robyn Lesh, designer for American Magic.
I graduated from Mechanical Engineering - Ocean Engineering at MIT and have spent the last three years exploring the sailing world, from Waszp racing on Long Island Sound to my current job, designing for the America's Cup team American Magic.
Growing up, my family had an "always learning" policy. School work came along on all of our adventures, through every summer. During the conventional school year my sister and I buckled down with our books and I devoured math and science as fast as I was able. At age 14 I started taking classes at the local community college and by 16 had taken all the math the community college had to offer. At 17 I moved onto the local university (Western Washington University) to keep taking math.
After two years at Western I was accepted to MIT and discovered that wile I still loved math, engineering was an wonderful combination of mathatical analytical thinking, problem solving and creativity!
