AmCham Women in Business networking reception at American Magic base with
Robyn Lesh, designer for American Magic.
Robyn grew up on 28 acres of woods in WA State where she was home-schooled and helped build high performance model sailboats in her family's business: Tippecanoe Boats. By age 14, Robyn was taking classes (lots of math) at the local community college. She soon began studying at the local university while sailing competitively on the local high school sailing team and campaigning lasers in the summers.
Robyn then migrated cross-country to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed a Mechanical Engineering Degree. She sailed seriously as a four-year varsity athlete & starting A-fleet skipper on the MIT sailing team. Robyn was named MVP of the MIT Women’s Sailing Team, twice-selected for the ICSA All-Academic Team, two-year winner of the All-NESA Women's Sportsmanship award and runner-up for the National Robert H Hobbs Sportsmanship Award.
After graduation, Robyn followed her passion for sailing and exciting opportunities, to Oakcliff Sailing on Long Island, NY where she worked as the High Performance Fleet Manager. Robyn managed a fleet of 39 foiling and Olympic boats as well as trained in foiling Nacra 17s, 49er Skiffs and foiling Waszps.
March of 2018 Robyn joined the Design Team for American Magic where she manages the Weight and Center Gravity of the race boats as well as is in charge of 3D printing, 3D scanning and 3D virtual reality.
In her personal time Robyn enjoys playing her ukulele, going on long runs in the woods, writing poetry and exploring all “green” (park) portions of google maps.
