The Journey To Becoming An Undisputed Global Leader

Tuesday 3 July, 3.45pm-6.30pm
Ernst & Young, level 9
 2 Takutai Square, Britomart

Independence Day on the 4th July is the national day and federal holiday in the United States. To set off the fireworks in New Zealand and to commemorate this day we are delighted to have Bill Buckley – Founder, and Mike Lightfoot – CEO of BSL Buckley Systems – AmCham DHL Express Success & Innovation Awards Supreme Winner 2011 - join us to discuss how they are dominating the global market through belief and determination.

There are widgets…and then there are SERIOUS widgets. Bill Buckley’s version is most definitely in category 2.  His company is the undisputed global leader in the manufacture and supply of precision electromagnets to 90% of the world’s ion implant industry – incredible when you consider these are the critical components in products ranging from particle accelerators and proton therapy units to everyday appliances such as smart phones, i-pads and flat panel tv’s.

Whilst Bill is internationally known as the world’s guru in precision electromagnets he is probably better known in New Zealand as the owner of Western Springs Speedway. Speed is Bill’s passion, having won New Zealand sidecar championships in the 1960’s, winning a transatlantic race in 2005 with his own built maxiboat, Maximus, and in April 2012 brought the launch of the World Speedway Championships to New Zealand, the first time in over a decade a world championship round has been staged outside of Europe.

In an open interview style hear how Buckley Systems;

  • -       broke into the American market
  • -       has tackled the economic challenges over the past 25 years
  • -       is helping the US improve its national security
  • -       continues to create exporting opportunities
  • -       engages with customers and develops loyalty

Bill will also share his thoughts on the future of Western Springs Speedway, why he’s made a $1.5 million investment into funding a chair at Auckland University to research global warming, and his experiences of having just returned from Monte Carlo where he represented New Zealand at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year awards.

Mike Lightfoot CEO Buckley Systems will share his insights into managing (leading) multi-million dollar companies through creativity and being innovative in establishing and implementing marketing and business strategies.

This will be an entertaining opportunity to not only listen to the world’s best but to network with your peers. We look forward to seeing you.
